Meet Nanette
Nanette Farag is the founder and principal of Peregrine, a strategic communications and public affairs firm specializing in state and local public affairs, issue advocacy, ballot measures, land use, PR, and strategic communications. With a proven track record of leading high-profile campaigns and initiatives, Farag leverages over 20 years of experience to deliver innovative, results-driven solutions for her clients.
Farag is a dynamic strategist known for her expertise in campaign strategy, coalition building, grassroots outreach, strategic messaging, and integrated advertising programs. Her work has shaped the outcome of some of California’s most complex and hard-fought political campaigns. In 2023, she was nationally recognized with the Campaign Excellence Award for Local Ballot Measure of the Year by the American Association of Political Consultants.
In recent years, Farag led state and local ballot measure practices and directed award-winning public affairs campaigns at a prominent California public affairs and communications firm. She has worked with both public and private sector clients, non-profits, national and California-based corporations serving as senior counsel. Farag has deep policy expertise in education, health care, land use, and conservation. Through her leadership, Farag has led initiatives that secured over a billion dollars for our local communities.
She also held leadership roles in the California State Assembly, serving as Chief of Staff to two Assemblymembers, and was a key political advisor for targeted races across California, setting a standard for performance-driven, winning strategies. Farag’s career includes spearheading groundbreaking public policy initiatives. She organized the nation’s first state-sponsored coalition on children’s internet safety, collaborating with public and private organizations, including the U.S. Attorney General. She also led efforts to enact California’s first-in-the-nation open access policy for publicly funded research, modeled after the National Institute of Health. Her experience also extends to executive leadership in state government. As a three-time gubernatorial appointee during Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s administration, Farag served as a senior legislative aide, special assistant to the chief of staff, and Deputy Director of External Affairs at the California Department of Consumer Affairs.
A graduate of California State University, Sacramento, with a Bachelor of Arts in Government, Farag has been honored as a Fellow of the American Leadership Forum Mountain Valley Chapter’s Class XXIX. She also serves as vice president on the board of directors for California Women Lead. Based in Rancho Murieta with her husband Ryan and their rescue dog, Farag enjoys hiking, birding, and volunteering for youth, health care, and animal rescue organizations. Her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for impactful advocacy drive Peregrine’s mission to deliver exceptional results for clients navigating complex political and public affairs landscapes.
